Loft Design & Build
Loft conversions may vary in design and details, but they all follow a similar process from start to finish.
In almost every case, you can rest assured that you will be able to continue living in your home throughout the conversion process, even while the building work is underway.
We prioritise clear and frequent communication throughout the entire project. You’ll have direct access to key team members, including the project manager assigned to your conversion, the contract manager overseeing quality control, and our office staff, who are always available to assist. If any issues arise during the project, you can contact us immediately, and we will address them without delay.
Below is a brief step-by-step guide to the stages involved in the loft conversion process:
- keyboard_arrow_right The initial stage involves discussions with you to determine the specific requirements for your loft conversion. During this time, we will explore your ideas and review the buildability options to help plan your ideal loft conversion. At this point, we will establish whether your project requires planning permission or falls under permitted development. You’ll also have the opportunity to view our gallery of past loft conversions for additional inspiration or ideas. If you wish, you can speak with previous customers to ask questions or seek advice before any work begins on your home.
- keyboard_arrow_right Next, an architect will visit your home to survey the designated areas and create working drawings or full plans for your loft conversion. This process typically takes up to two weeks. Once the drawings are completed, they will be sent to you for review. If you’re satisfied and ready to approve them, we will handle the submission to your local council for planning permission, if required, or confirm they fall under permitted development. In addition, we will submit the plans for building regulations approval. Once the council approves the plans, we can begin the construction phase of your loft conversion.
- keyboard_arrow_right Party Wall Agreements: We can provide the necessary documentation for you to issue to your adjoining neighbours. Please note that work cannot begin until all Party Wall Agreements are finalised and in place.
- keyboard_arrow_right The actual build of a typical loft conversion usually takes between 4 and 6 weeks. However, the timeframe can vary depending on the type of conversion and the complexity or simplicity of your project. Your assigned project manager and the appointed building inspector will regularly visit the site to monitor progress and ensure that all work meets our high standards.
- keyboard_arrow_right At the end of the project, your project manager will conduct a final inspection of your loft conversion before arranging the final visit from the building inspector. Once approved, you will receive a completion certificate, along with a Part P certificate to confirm that your loft conversion complies with all current electrical regulations. You can now enjoy your luxurious new loft living space!
